Birmingham Medal Society Organisation
The Society holds a number of events each year during their monthly meetings and is administered by a Committee made up of volunteers from the membership and a President who is elected for a three year period at the Annual General Meeting. The Society Constitution can be viewed by clicking here
Monthly Meetings
Are held usually on the first Thursday of each month between 7.30pm and 9.30pm at The Holiday Inn, Kidderminster Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 9AB Members also meet in the restaurant from 5.00pm each month for a meal and chat before the formal meeting. Recent Acquisitions
An opportunity for members to bring, talk about if they wish and display their recently acquired group of medals or other prized military memorabilia for others to see, comment on and even add extra information. Any member that wishes to show anything at a future recent acquisition meeting is asked to download the form by clicking here and bring it ready completed to the meeting.
The Research Trophy
Each year members are invited to submit research worthy of publication that they have undertaken on a particular subject related to medals and militaria and judged by a panel Click here to view Research Trophy Rules. Or Click here to download submission form.

The President's Cup
Each year members are invited and encouraged to put on a variety of displays comprising a mixture of medals, militaria and supporting material. The display is judged and the winner receives the coveted President's Cup. Standards are high as as many members as possible are encouraged to take part. To view the President's Cup Rules click here. Mini Convention Every two years the Society holds a mini-convention which is open to anyone with an interest in the hobby. It is held locally and includes talks, presentations, displays by members and a small number of stalls. |
The Drummond Lecture
This is held annually and a guest speaker invited to give a talk on a specialist subject. In 1975 the present Patron of the BMS Doctor Llewelly Lloyd OBE KStJ JP joined the Society; he was a close friend of Lieutenant General Sir Alex Drummond KBE CB KStJ and had served under him as a young Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps during the Malayan campaign. In 1979 Lt Gen Drummond was invited to talk to the BMS on his collection of early medals to members of the medical profession and became the Socity's first Patron. Each year the Society holds the annual Drummond Lecture in his honour and memory. Click here to see the past lectures and speakers.
